Valvoline Opens New Product Development Laboratory

The Valvoline Company, a subsidiary of Ashland Inc. (Covington, KY), has officially opened its New Product Development Laboratory at company headquarters in Lexington, KY. The $4.5 million facility will serve as the company's flagship for research and development of its lines of above-and below-the-hood automotive products.

The 25,000-square-foot, two-story facility consists mainly of laboratory space, with areas also dedicated to blending, automotive testing, and training. A garage on the lower level is used for testing appearance products on automobiles.

The New Product Development Laboratory will be supported by three international labs in Dordrecht, The Netherlands; Santiago, Chile; and Sydney, Australia, as well as by more extensive laboratory facilities at Ashland Chemical headquarters in Dublin, OH. Full engine block testing and fleet testing will still be performed at an existing lab in Ashland, KY.

Valvoline is a motor oil company and a producer of automotive and industrial products.
