<%=company1%> Inc. (Orlando, FL), a supplier of chromatographic data analysis software, and Thru-Put Systems (Beverly, MA), which offers a wide range of laboratory data management software, announced plans to merge this week. The combined company will make up the newly formed Information Management Group of the Life Sciences division of Thermo Electron, the parent company of LabSystems.

Thru-Put markets the Target system, a chromatographic data processing and reporting software package available on Windows and HP-UX. Target reads raw data files and processed results from more than 50 different chromatographic systems, and provides these tools for GC, LC, Diode-Array/LC, MS, and MS/MS techniques. Target can be configured for many applications, including chemical/petrochemical, clinical, environmental, and pharmaceutical/combinatorial.

According to LabSystems, the merger will provide Thru-Put with access to its 290-member global staff that develops and services laboratory software in the pharmaceutical, chemical, petrochemical, and environmental industries. Thru-Put says its first aim under the merger will be to add LabSystems' data acquisition capabilities to Target DB in an effort to help customers who want to integrate their two- and three-dimensional chromatography processing and reporting systems.

The combined company will retain the LabSystems name and will be a private subsidiary of Thermo Electron.
