Toronto, CA - Thermo Electron Corporation announces the launch of a new high-resolution double focusing magnetic sector GC/MS, the DFS. This innovative instrument is the first totally new design of its kind to be developed in over 15 years. The new DFS offers environmental contract laboratories and governmental authorities monitoring food, feedstuff and environmental samples, high quality analyses at a reasonable cost. The DFS will be exhibited at booth #301-202-200 at the 25th International Symposium on Halogenated Environmental Organic Pollutants and Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) - DIOXIN 2005, Toronto, Canada, August 21 - 26.

The DFS succeeds Thermo's popular Finnigan MAT 95 XP GC/MS system and is the most sensitive, reliable and comprehensive instrument for target compound analysis available on the market. The DFS has been primarily developed to perform trace compound analyses of environmental samples and sports doping. It features significantly lower detection limits and higher sample throughput than its predecessor, thereby resulting in lower cost of ownership, considerable ease of use and excellent performance. In addition, the new DFS features improved transmission, an intuitive user interface and a compact footprint taking less laboratory space.
