Steris Acquires Minnesota-Based Contract Sterilization Business

Steris Corp. (Mentor, OH) has acquired the assets of Quality Sterilization Services (QSS), a contract sterilization business located near Minneapolis. QSS primarily provides contract sterilization services for medical device manufacturers in the upper Midwest. Specific terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"The Twins Cities area, also known as Medical Alley, is a booming market for high technology medical device manufacturing which provides Steris an excellent opportunity for continued growth and expansion of our Isomedix Services network," said Thomas Magulski, Steris senior VP and scientific and industrial group president.

"We expect a rapid and smooth integration of the QSS operation into the Steris/Isomedix Services network," continued Magulski. "Employees of QSS have joined Steris, and processing of customer goods is proceeding as scheduled."

Steris Corp. is a provider of infection prevention, contamination prevention, microbial reduction, and surgical support systems, products, services, and technologies to health care, scientific, research, food, and industrial customers. Its Isomedix Services business provides sterilization, microbial reduction, and materials modification services through a network of 15 facilities in North America to medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food safety, and industrial Customers.
