Software Gives Kodak Digital Science Image Station Databasing Capabilities
The upgraded 1D Image Analysis Software integrates ImageAXS Pro, a database application that enables users to create collections of digital content files called source files. The collections contain information about the source files, including thumbnails of still or moving images, and information about the file type, size, and location. Files can be stored on the user's local hard drive, on removable media (i.e. floppy or Zip discs, SyQuest cartridges, or CD-ROMs), or on remote servers or networked storage devices.
Users can also organize entire laboratories-worth of files, and conveniently retrieve them for analysis, or for use in a paper or presentation. In addition to the basic file information, each source listing includes eight user-modifiable fields, including a large field that accepts descriptions as long as 32,000 characters. Users can also enter keywords to describe an image. All fields are searchable, and all information about the source file can be displayed regardless of file availability. If the file is available, it can be presented on-screen, regardless of size, location or format, without launching another application.
