Severn Trent Adds EA Labs To Its Network Of U.S. Environmental Labs

Severn Trent Laboratories Inc. (Coventry, UK), a subsidiary of Severn Trent Plc (Birmingham, UK), has acquired the business and assets of EA Laboratories (Sparks, MD), formerly owned by EA Engineering Science and Technology Inc. (Hunt Valley, MD). With the acquisition of EA Labs, Severn Trent now has a total of 12 US-based environmental labs, strengthening its position as a market leader in laboratory based environmental testing in the U.S.

"Along with our contract operations of water and waste water plants, provision of pipeline services, and software solutions for water and other utilities, we have a business with annualised sales of some US$240 million in the USA."

Since April 1, 1997, Severn Trent has invested US$147 million in its US acquisitions, including US$1.9 million cash being the total consideration for EA Laboratories and a further US$2.0 million for the separate purchase of the Sparks, MD land and building from which it operates.
