Philips Analytical To Establish New Regional Headquarters In Boston

Philips Analytical (Almelo, Netherlands) will establish a new American regional headquarters in Boston's technology corridor. The activities of the present Philips Analytical North American business center in Mahwah, NJ, will be transferred to the new regional headquarters in the summer of 1999. Boston was chosen as the new headquarters site because of its proximity to several major universities, and for its ability to provide an attractive and stimulating environment for customer demonstrations and training.

The new headquarters will unite sales, service, and support functions for the Philips analytical business unit serving the Americas. The facility will include a regional service call center and help desk as well as a fully equipped applications laboratory with state-of-the-art training and conference facilities. The new facility will also house development, manufacturing, and marketing activities for Philips Analytical's "Impulse" range of semiconductor metrology tools. The laboratory will be equipped with a full range of Philips X-ray fluorescence, diffraction, and thin-film metrology products. The company's Tempe, AZ, applications laboratory will continue to serve the Western region.

Garrett Forde has been appointed general manager for the Philips Analytical Americas region. Formerly the general manager for the European, Middle East, and African regions, Forde began his new role with the Philips Analytical Americas region on March 1, 1999.

Philips Analytical is one of the world's leading suppliers of instrumentation and software for X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. The division has been awarded an ISO 14000 environmental certificate, and maintains a sales and service network in more than 60 countries.
