PerkinElmer Instruments, a global leader in scientific instrumentation, announced that it has become the exclusive distributor for the TravelIR portable fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer, strengthening the company's strategic partnership with SensIR Technologies, and expanding PerkinElmer's presence in the FT-IR market.

As part of this agreement, PerkinElmer Instruments will distribute the compact TravelIR™ FT-IR system that is designed for use outside of the laboratory. This innovative instrument allows users to perform on-site sample analyses, thereby increasing efficiency by providing on the spot results. This capability dramatically reduces the amount of time spent transporting samples and performing laboratory analysis.

The TravelIR instrument has broad applications in industrial problem-solving, as well as in the forensics industry. PerkinElmer's global network of sales, service, and support should significantly widen the market for the system.

"This exclusive distributor agreement with SensIR Technologies reflects our growth strategy and strengthens our presence in key analytical markets and, more specifically, in portable instrumentation," said Ian Shuttler, Molecular Spectroscopy business unit manager. "We are excited to expand our partnership with SensIR Technologies, a proven leader in the design and development of systems for FT-IR spectroscopy," he added.

"Our decision to work with PerkinElmer Instruments as an exclusive distributor provides us with unequalled coverage with an extensive network of top-notch sales and service professionals that will help us to encourage adoption of this innovative approach to FT-IR," said Robert Sebes, president of SensIR Technologies.
