OriginLab Announces the Release of Origin 7.0
Combining Ease-of-Use with Data Analysis Power
NORTHAMPTON, MA -- OriginLab Corporation announces the release of Origin® version 7.0, a leading Windows®-based scientific graphing and data analysis software. This new version of Origin is the first scientific software to combine presentation-quality graphics, the C language, and elements of the Numerical Algorithms Group, Inc. (NAG®) library in a single package. Origin's new features increase both ease-of-use and analysis power. Interface improvements include modernized text and drawing tools, a Plotting Wizard with Graph Gallery, and a Nonlinear Curve Fitting wizard. Advanced analysis features include Two-Way ANOVA, Survival analysis, and Nonlinear Curve Fitting with Automatic Parameter Initialization. A new Code Builder™ interface is added to the software to provide a C programming and debugging environment. Essential elements of the NAG numerical library are built-in to extend Origin's analysis capabilities.
"Researchers each have their own unique requirements for data analysis software, yet have no spare time for learning to use new software," says OriginLab's founder and President, Dr. C.P. Yang. "Therefore we have focused on making Origin so easy to use that you will be able to produce results right out of the box. In addition, we have put a C compiler into the software so that one can perform serious scientific computation using a familiar language."
For over 10 years OriginLab has provided a comprehensive solution for scientists and engineers who need to analyze, graph, and make professional presentations of their data. Origin 7.0 provides the required blend of tools to accommodate both the novice and advanced users. Advanced researchers will now have a single tool that allows them to program in C, to access the time-proven NAG library, and to take advantage of Origin's data analysis and graphing environment.
Key New Features
Graphing Wizard and Template Library
This new wizard steps the user through the plotting process; its integrated Template Library allows visual selection of built-in and user-defined graph templates. Custom templates may be organized into user-defined categories for easy access.
Nonlinear Fitting Wizard
This new wizard guides the user through the curve fitting process, and automatically initializes the fitting parameters. Once completed, you can save the fitting procedure as a toolbar button for single-click repeat analyses.
Origin C Language with Code Builder
Origin C allows researchers to create powerful C routines that take advantage of Origin's extensive graphing and data analysis capabilities. Origin C supports ANSI C syntax plus a subset of C++ features including built-in vector and matrix classes. External libraries written in C or Fortran can be called directly from Origin C. Code Builder provides a color-coded editor with modern debugging capabilities such as setting breakpoints and stepping through source code.
Built-In NAG Numerical Library
Origin 7.0 provides essential elements of the NAG library that are easily callable from Origin C. Routines include Statistics, Fourier Transforms, Linear Algebra, Regression, and Multivariate Methods including Principal Component Analysis.
Pricing Information
Origin 7.0 is available for $699. System Requirements: Microsoft Windows 95 or later, or Windows NT4.0 or later, 133 MHz or higher Pentium-compatible CPU, 64 Megabytes (MB) of RAM, a CD-ROM drive, and 45 MB of free hard disk space.
Since its debut, OriginLab has sold over 50,000 copies of Origin, and has evolved as a leading player in the scientific graphing and data analysis market. Formerly Microcal Software, Inc., the company first released Origin in 1991.
