Ohaus Shapes The Future Of Weighing With The Hand-Held Series Of Scales

Three Hand Held models are offered; 120 gram (dual range); 120 gram (single range); and 320 gram (single range). Basic features include rugged ABS construction, a snap-on protective cover, (which doubles as a scoop), and a battery saving auto shutoff feature. Model-specific features include unit switching, user calibration, and backlit display. Though these compact products have a small footprint, (5" x 3" x 0.8"), they feature a generous, (3.3" x 3"), weighing surface.

The display is designed with the user in mind, and takes into consideration the portability factor—that the scale may be used in less than ideal conditions. High-contrast LCD digits are 11 mm tall, and optimally positioned to eliminate parallax errors, so there is no mistaking the results—even in poor lighting conditions.

Because of their portability, the scales can be carried conveniently anywhere and thus lend themselves to a multitude of applications. "In defining the product we brainstormed applications," said Ms. Evans. "We came up with a long list that included everything from egg weighing to home-brewing. The hand-helds are perfect for use in areas where convenience, portability and value are critical."

The jewelry industry is a prime market for the Hand-Helds because it's an area where cutting-edge designs are expected and appreciated.
