Nicomp 380 Submicron Particle Sizer
The basic NICOMP 380 uses the principle of dynamic light scattering to measure the particle size distribution. It is the only dynamic light scattering instrument designed using a modular approach. The size range is .001 - 5 microns. The 380 instrument can be enhanced by adding one or more accessory modules as listed below:
380/A Autodilution Option
This patented feature, only available on our instrument, eliminates the need for manual dilution of concentrated samples. Autodilution makes particle size analysis quick and easy. Results are highly reproducible, especially for multiple users. It is enabling technology for online and batch sampling.
380/AS Autosampler
Provides automatic batch analysis of 1 to 76 samples independent of composition and concentration.
380/L Online Sampler
Automatic online sampling and analysis of submicron emulsions and dispersions may be made during production. A simple valve system, controlled electronically or pneumatically by a computer, captures fresh sample from a process reactor or pipe. The sample is then automatically diluted and quickly analyzed by the 380.
380/HPL High-power Laser Options
Now offering a 15mW red laser diode (635nm wavelength) and a 20mW green single mode laser diode to extend the lower sizing limit of the 380 to below 10nm without the need of attaching an external laser. More power with the same footprint.
380/VHPL Very-high-power Laser Options Now offering a 50mW and 100mW single mode green laser with a 532nm wavelength to extend the lower size limit of the 380 to below 5nm.
380/MA Multi-angle Option
Particles larger than 150nm may scatter relatively little light at 90 degrees because of intra-particle interference or "Mie-scattering". This effect may cause significant distortion in computed particle size distributions for some kinds of polydispersed samples. This option uses a precision stepper motor and pinhole/optical fiber assembly to vary the scattered angle in increments of 0.9 degrees so that the measurement can be optimized for the best results.
