New Amino Acids From Avantor Performance Materials Complement Life Science Product Portfolio

J.T.Baker brand L-alanine, L-aspartic acid and L-cysteine round out Avantor’s offering of high-quality amino acids

Avantor Performance Materials has added three new amino acids to its portfolio of J.T.Baker brand amino acids, used in cell cultures, drug formulations and nutritional products. The company now offers all 20 standard amino acids needed by the human body to produce proteins.

The new J.T.Baker L-alanine, L-aspartic acid, and L-cysteine amino acids are manufactured under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) conditions in FDA-inspected facilities, and supported by Avantor’s industry-leading quality and supply chain systems, helping to ensure that they meet customer requirements for quality assurance, efficiency and regulatory compliance.

The new L-aspartic acid meets the rigorous multi-compendial requirements of the National Formulary (NF), European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and Japanese Pharmacopoeia (JP). The new L-alanine meets the requirements of the NF and EP compendia. The new L-cysteine amino acid product meets the JP compendial status.

As basic constituents of proteins, J.T.Baker amino acids are used in diverse regulated applications, including:

  • Cell culture media like Basal Medium Eagle (BME) and Minimum Essential Medium (MEM).
  • Formulations in intravenous, subcutaneous and irrigation solutions to support the body’s natural resources.
  • Excipients in parenteral, inhalation and oral drug products.
  • Nutritional supplements to augment protein intake and to fortify food, beverages and feedstuffs.

J.T.Baker amino acids are packaged in high-density polyethylene (HDPE) bottles and pails, and are available in various package sizes.
