Matheson Gas Products, Tri-Gas Inc. To Merge

Matheson Gas Products (Parsippany, NJ), a producer of specialty gases and gas handling equipment, has signed a merger agreement with Tri-Gas Inc. (Irving, Texas), a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gas. The new company will be called Matheson Tri-Gas.

Donald G. Ramlow, who will serve as Matheson Tri-Gas' CEO, indicated that the combined operation will benefit from the individual strengths of the two organizations. The company will now offer its analytical laboratory and semiconductor customers a more complete product line, including liquid/bulk products and industrial cylinders and equipment, such as Nitrogen Dewars and liquid cryogens.

Matheson Tri-Gas will operate six divisions from divisional headquarters at four locations. From Irving, TX, the company will operate the Atmospheric Gases Division, the Packaged Gas Division, and the On-Site Division. From San Jose, CA, the Semi-Gas Division will offer high-purity gases and gas handling systems for electronics manufacturing. The Specialty Gas Division will operate out of Montgomeryville, PA, and the Isotec Division will continue its operation from Miamisburg, OH. Corporate headquarters for Matheson Tri-Gas will be located in Parsippany, NJ.
