LabSpec Pro - The First Laboratory NIR Analyzer That is Truly Portable

Near-Infrared Spectroscopy is a mature, trusted analytical technique used in nearly every industry. It has proven itself as an excellent, reliable quality control tool for over three decades. Methods exist for precise qualitative and quantitative analysis of every type of material from simple pure, raw materials to complex products, foods and finished goods. One of the fastest growing analytical/process control techniques in recent years, NIR has grown beyond its laboratory role. Numerous instruments have been developed for use in a production setting, proving invaluable as real-time analysis tools, saving money and time.
Most commercial NIR spectrometers come with one major drawback: a power cord! To move a measurement site from one location within a plant or between facilities, the analyst was required to detach, unplug, transport and reassemble the instrument. Since speed is the key element of NIR analyses, this downtime was unfortunate. In most cases, a "portable" instrument only meant a laboratory instrument not truly suitable for frequent relocation. A production-hardened instrument had to be installed at a single location. Its ability to resist breakage was generally based on its NEMA enclosure: big and strong, but permanently installed. While numerous models have been made durable, none has been made truly portable...until now! Analytical Spectral Device's LabSpec Pro portable NIR Analyzers are suited for use in laboratory or production settings.
Known for its portable high precision spectroradiometers, ASD's LabSpec Pro line of NIR spectrophotometers provides the performance of a laboratory analyzer in a field-hardened portable package. These instruments are completely self-contained and portable, equipped with a notebook computer, powered by an internal NiMH battery pack and weigh about 30 lbs. Chemometric analyses are provided by the included Unscrambler software package; Pirouette or Grams chemometrics software packages are available as options. The units are equipped with standard SMA fiber optic connectors allowing them to utilize many standard transmission probes, reflectance probes, cuvette holders or other task-specific sampling accesories. With sampling accessories and probes for powders, liquids and slurries, we will configure LabSpec Pro to meet your specific needs.
The LabSpec Pro portable NIR analyzer for reflectance, transmittance and absorbance is available in three different models: LabSpec Pro (350 - 2500 nm) ASD p/n A108310, LabSpec Pro (1000 - 2500 nm) ASD p/n A108300, and LabSpec Pro (1000 - 1800 nm) ASD p/n A108280. All three versions provide complete spectra with 10 nm resolution and 1 nm sampling. LabSpec Pro NIR Analyzers are available with the following features and options:

Standard Features

The LabSpec Pro NIR Analyzer is RF shielded and built into a durable case. Industry standard SMA connectors enable the attachment of a wide range of optical fiber sampling probes and sampling accessories. LabSpec Pro is truly portable weighing about 12 kg and measuring 16" tall by 4.5" wide by 12.5" deep. LabSpec Pro operating software runs under Windows-95 or Windows-98, is fully Y2K compliant and includes real-time calculation and display of reflectance, transmittance and absorbance spectra. The included Unscrambler chemometrics analysis software provides real-time analyses. The spectrometer completes a complete scan every 100 milliseconds with extended range TE cooled InGaAs detectors and 512 element photodiode array (LabSpec Pro [350-2500 nm] only). An internal rechargeable spectrometer battery with three hour life is provided. A 3000°K color temperature, quartz halogen light source with cooling fan and DC current stabilizer circuitry, is also built-in.
