Kanode Named President, CEO of Rechargeable Battery Producer

Evercel Inc. (Danbury, CT) appointed Robert Kanode as their new president and CEO. Mr. Kanode joins Evercel from Varta Batteries Inc., a subsidiary of Varta AG (Hanover, Germany), where he served as president since 1996.

While at Varta, Mr. Kanode was responsible for streamlining and reorganizing the company's North American operations, as well as increasing Varta's presence in major niche battery markets. Prior to joining Varta, Mr. Kanode was one of the original members of the IBM (Armonk, NY) Thinkpad team, where he served as manager of product manufacturing.

Evercel develops and commercializes patented Nickel-Zinc rechargeable batteries. The company is also involved in the research and design of other battery technologies.
