IPS Announces Groundbreaking for Biopol Laboratory, Inc.

Lafayette Hill, PA - Integrated Project Services (IPS), a leading, full-service engineering, design/build, validation, and compliance company, recently announced groundbreaking for a new Biopol Laboratory, Inc. facility in Post Falls, Idaho. Biopol Laboratory is a wholly owned subsidiary of ALK-Abello, a leading producer of pharmaceuticals for allergy immunotherapy. Biopol is ALK-Abello's main source material supplier and one of North America's largest suppliers of allergen source materials.

The new 12.5 acre site consolidates Biopol's five facilities into a new main building of which the first phase will be approximately 68,000 sq. ft. Biopol is relocating its laboratory, offices, manufacturing facilities, and associated in-process and finished product warehouses from its present Spokane, Washington location.

IPS is providing detailed design, product development and process engineering services and ensuring validation in accordance with latest current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP) requirements. The new facility will increase Biopol's capacities and scale up to meet the accelerating demand for its allergen source materials products. In addition, the site includes new pollen and mites processing buildings, as well as energy saving principles for process and utility systems, odors/dust control systems, and waste treatment.

"IPS is the perfect partner for Biopol. They have a high level of competency and the experience required for the detailed design of this bulk pharmaceutical facility," stated Miles Guralnick, President/Managing Director, Biopol Laboratory, Inc. "The Post Falls facility offers the additional space and increased capacity to enable us to continue to provide an uninterrupted supply of quality allergenic biological source materials. We look forward to a good collaboration and to a very successful project."
