Geon CEO William Patient To Retire; Company Announces First Quarter Earnings
William F. Patient, chairman and CEO officer of The Geon Company (Avon Lake, OH), will retire on May 6, 1999, the date of Geon's annual meeting of stockholders. Geon is a leading producer of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) compoundschemical alternatives to wood, metal, and other plasticsand vinyl dispersion resins and dispersion resin compounds. The company is also a growing provider of polymer services.
At the stockholders meeting, the Geon board of directors is expected to approve the recommendation of its nominating committee that President and COO Thomas Waltermire be appointed CEO. Patient will remain a Geon director, assuming stockholders approve his re-election to the board on May 6.
Geon also announced financial results for the first quarter ended March 31. Earnings were the second highest in company history for a first quarter, and were double the earnings for first-quarter 1998.
