A new class of sugar-acrylic copolymers based upon the ECOMER Sugar Macromer are being designed not to interfere in paper recycling operations
A new class of sugar-acrylic copolymers based upon the ECOMER Sugar Macromer are being designed not to interfere in paper recycling operations. These pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) are high solids water-borne emulsions and will be commercially available in late 2000. While "repulpable" and recycling-friendly in the paper recycling process, they will be true permanent adhesives and, as such, will not offer biodegradability.

A typical PSA consists of a low Tg copolymer that has the requisite viscoelastic properties to flow and adhere to various substrates such as paper, cardboard, and plastics of both low and high surface energies.

ECOSTIX sugar-acrylic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs), available later in 2000, will be white, stable waterborne emulsions based on the ECOMER Sugar Macromer. They will meet the strict industrial requirements for labels, stationery, and many other applications for a wide variety of facestocks and substrates. They will also offer excellent coatability and easy cleanup for converters.

Please watch this page for future announcements as we introduce our new products in 2000.
