The @LIMS Database definition Toolkit (DDT) eliminates the need for cumbersome native database tools of the past
The @LIMS Database definition Toolkit (DDT) eliminates the need for cumbersome native database tools of the past. DDT provides an intuitive graphical interface that allows authorized users to extend, create, and link selected tables… all within a simplified Windows environment. Single-click DDT upgrades do not affect existing database Security, Auditing, Archiving, Versioning, and Referential Integrity.

The Database Definition Toolkit lets authorized users extend (add columns), create, and link selected tables. The users can also define the following properties of selected database tables including:

  • Versioning and Auditing
  • Relationships
  • Functionality
  • Naming
  • Access privledges

@LIMS maintains a full Data Dictionary of the Core LIMS Data Model (structure and content of the entire database).

Extensions and Upgrades

The DDT provides Database Survivability by allowing authorized users to alter selected portions of the LIMS database without affecting essential functionality. The core data model is insulated from any possible damage. Upgrade Integrity is maintained, as all DDT operations are system controlled and audited. This greatly simplifies upgrades. During an upgrade, @LIMS automatically maintains the pre-update integrity of the database.
