Dassault Systemes Invests $6 Million in Invention Machine Corp.

Dassault Systemes S.A. (Suresnes Cedex, France), a software developer for the CAD/CAM/CAE/PDM II market, has invested $6 million in Invention Machine Corp. (Boston, MA; 1-800-595-5500), a provider of Knowledge-based Innovation software. As part of the deal, Dassault Systemes' President Bernard Charles joins Invention Machine's board of directors, and Invention Machine becomes a strategic Dassault Systemes partner.

The investment provides Invention Machine with the necessary resources to support its signature product, TechOptimizer 3.0 and future Knowledge-based Innovation products using the Company's semantic processing technology. Under their strategic partnership, Invention Machine will have access to Dassault Systemes' worldwide marketing and sales channel, as well as the Company's installed customer base.

The two companies will work to provide customers with software tools to facilitate the sharing of knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines. Knowledge-based Innovation applications are part of the new generation of Virtual product development design tools targeted at manufacturing industries.

Dassault Systemes and Invention Machine Corp. share a number of long-term clients, including Honda. "Honda's strategy is to continue its implementation of Digital Manufacturing Circle (DMC) around a unified integrated architecture with CATIA and is expanding to address knowledge management and innovation support tools around a future integration of CATIA and TechOptimizer," said Kobayashi San, executive chief engineer of Honda Research and Development Technology.

TechOptimizer 3.0 includes seven modules that assist engineers in correctly stating and solving their engineering problems. Using TechOptimizer, engineers can avoid costly trial-and-error techniques in the early stages of design by safely generating concepts in TechOptimizer's virtual environment to speed the development of new products and processes.
