BOC Edwards To Acquire Kachina Semiconductor Services

BOC Edwards (Wilmington, MA) has entered into an agreement to purchase Kachina Semiconductor Services (Phoenix). The deal is subject to certain conditions and approvals. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

According to Mark Rosenzweig, president of BOC Edwards, Americas, the acquisition expands BOC Edwards' semiconductor on-site services business, FabMaX. The company will expand its global semiconductor services by combining Kachina's in-tool component cleaning abilities with BOC Edwards CO2 parts cleaning business, backed by BOC Edwards FabMaX on-site service infrastructure, Rosenzweig said.

Kachina's cleaning technology yields extremely low particle and mobile ion counts along with negligible levels of residual outgas species. By using selective chemical and electrochemical processes, the company can extend part life well beyond typical utilization rates.

The BOC Group is a global gases company. BOC products and services are used in steelmaking, refining and chemical processing, environmental protection, welding and cutting, food processing and distribution, glass production, and medical applications. BOC Edwards is dedicated to supplying gases and equipment to the semiconductor industry and also manufactures vacuum pumps.
