Beckman Coulter, Instrumentation Laboratory Ink New Distribution Agreement

CH Werfen, the majority shareholder of Instrumentation Laboratory S.p.A. (Barcelona, Spain), has entered into a new strategic alliance and cross distribution agreement with Beckman Coulter Inc. (Fullerton, CA). The new agreement, which replaces the companies' 1992 agreement, has an initial term of ten years. The parties may also extend the agreement for up to ten additional years.

Under terms of the agreement, Beckman Coulter will continue to distribute Instrumentation Laboratory's hemostasis products (including the company's recently acquired Hemoliance product line) in North America. Additional details of the relationship in Asia, Latin America, and Africa will be disclosed as plans are developed. Instrumentation Laboratory will continue to distribute Beckman Coulter's hematology, flow cytometry, and particle characterization products in Italy and Austria.

Instrumentation Laboratory is a developer, manufacturer, and distributor of in vitro diagnostic instruments, and related reagents, controls, other consumables and services for use primarily in hospitals and independent clinical laboratories.
