Amgen Breaks Ground On Research Facility In Cambridge, MA

Amgen (Thousand Oaks, CA) has begun construction of Amgen Center Cambridge, a new facility dedicated to drug research and drug discovery, in Cambridge, MA. The center is expected to be completed by the middle of 2001.

The new building will have 285,000 square feet of laboratory and research space and will eventually be capable of supporting several hundred researchers. The facility will be designed to host a variety of research disciplines including biology and chemistry.

Initially, Amgen will occupy part of the research facility and lease the remainder. Future plans call for Amgen to occupy the entire building.

Amgen is a biotechnology company that discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets human therapeutics based on advances in cellular and molecular biology.
