Stago-Sponsored Webinar Discusses Advances In Coagulation Testing For Patients Presenting With Trauma

LabRoots will host this webinar February 7, which will highlight case studies and outcomes for patients diagnosed and treated with trauma-induced coagulopathy.

Yorba Linda, CA (PRWEB) - According to the National Trauma Institute, trauma accounts for 41 million emergency room visits and 2.3 million hospital admissions annually in the US, resulting in an overall annual economic burden of $671 billion in healthcare costs and productivity losses. Coagulation testing is often required to identify acute trauma-induced coagulopathy and guide treatment for bleeding and related disorders for optimal outcomes.

Presented at the Stago EdVantage Virtual University Virtual Event, this webinar will review incidence, clinical diagnostic algorithms and treatment strategies for patients presenting to the emergency department with trauma induced coagulopathy. Participants will learn from a discussion of best practices and approaches for coagulation testing panel selection for trauma patients.

This educational presentation will outline the clinical issues along with up-to-date diagnostic and treatment practices, enabling participants to implement these practices in their local settings. The speaker for this event will be Dr. Kalev Freeman, an assistant professor of surgery and pharmacology at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.

Freeman obtained both his doctorate of medicine and doctorate in molecular biology from the University of Colorado. He currently serves as assistant professor of surgery and pharmacology at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine, as well as an attending emergency physician at the University of Vermont Medical Center. His NIH-funded laboratory at the University of Vermont is working to understand trauma physiology and develop novel therapeutic targets to improve outcomes for trauma patients.

LabRoots will host the event February 7, 2018, beginning at 8:00 a.m. PST, 11 a.m. EST. To read more about this event and the entire Stago EdVantage Virtual University Virtual Event, learn about the continuing education credits offered, or to register for free, click here.
