The model LT Scanning Tunneling Microscope has proven atomic resolution performance on metals at 5 K in UHV. It allows a wide range of low temperature phenomena such as superconductivity, quantum effects, charge density waves, as well as atom manipulation, optical and STM spectroscopy to be studied on an atomic scale.
