The trend towards virtual pharma is accelerating and as it does, the life sciences industry is undergoing a profound structural change. The areas of development and commercialization which were once conducted within the confines of one company have now become a collaboration within an ecosystem of entities, both public and private.

drive for efficiency and speed to market has transformed the pharmaceutical industry in the last decade.
Change has brought improved efficiencies, the ability to focus on core strengths and drop large areas of fixed cost and low margin work. This new virtual world has, however, brought its own challenges. Chief amongst these are the global regulatory regimes and the need to break down the barriers to collaboration between companies. It is time for content management systems and regulatory and quality processes to catch up with this industry shift.
