Dermatophytes are a unique group of fungi that can invade the hair, skin, and nails of a living host. Dermatophytes are the most common fungi identified in the clinical laboratory. Over 12,000,000 people are diagnosed and treated annually in the US. Some dermatophytes are commonly carried by pets and may be the source of recurring infections. BioMed Diagnostics' InTray DM provides a simple color test for the detection of dermatophytes - yellow to red.

BioMed's InTray DM medium

  • Pull back the label, remove and discard seal, inoculate, reseal label, incubate at room temperature; then read the results directly in the tray.
  • Undisturbed dermatophyte growth enhances identification.
  • Minimizes handler exposure.
  • Increases specificity by inhibiting both gram positive and gram negative bacteria.
  • As dermatophytes grow, the medium turns red within 2 - 6 days.
  • The structure of the growing organism may be observed microscopically at 100x, 200x, or 400x magnification through the clear InTray lid.
  • The structure of the growing organism may be observed through the clear anti-fog window.
