Ahlstrom manufactures a complete line of high purity, 100% cotton fiber papers for use in chromatography, electrophoresis and blotting applications. Ahlstrom's Chromatography and Blotting papers are extensively used in separations science. Paper chromatography is an economical and efficient method of separating individual components from a soluble sample. Our uniform blotting and electrophoresis grades ensure performance reproducibility in nucleic acid research. Ahlstrom grades are produced using ultrapure water and contain no additives that could cause increased backgrounds or other interference in detection systems. These uniform, smooth, white sheets are suitable for use in paper chromatography with alcohol or other organic solvents and in protein and nucleic acid separation and blotting. Other applications would include capillary blotting, gelwicking, spacing in electroblotting and gel drying.
601 - Medium thickness, medium flow rate. Smooth, white uniform sheet. Ideal for use in paper chromatography or as a gel drying support. Also suited for use as spacers in capillary and electroblotting sandwiches.
237, 238 - Thick. Ideal for use as wicks in protein or nucleic acid blotting to provide a uniform flow of buffer through the gel to the transfer membrane in a blotting sandwich. Also suitable for use in removing gels from glass supports.
222, 319, 320 - Thicker and super-thick papers used to complete the blotting sandwich. Smooth, uniform texture assures continuous contact of buffer from the chamber through the gel and transfer membrane to the opposite pole or weight.
