John Varine is president of Pittcon 2008, the 59th Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy, which will takes place March 1-7, 2008, in New Orleans. During his 44-year career as a science educator, Varine has instructed laboratory classes at the university level, taught chemistry at the secondary level, and served as a science department head for grades kindergarten through 12. He currently teaches chemistry laboratory classes at California University of Pennsylvania.
