New Communication Protocol for Recirculating Chillers

RS232 communication is now available as an option on this company's Kodiak recirculating chillers.

This communication allows for remote monitoring and control, either manually or via a computer, of the chiller. The manufacturer states that while many OEM customers incorporate the control into their system operating software, they offer free software that mimic's the chiller's controller operation on a customer's computer.

The RS232 communication protocol sends and controls chiller parameters that include:

• Actual process temperature
• Process temperature setpoint
• Delivered coolant pressure
• Cooling status
• Chiller on/off status
• Overtemperature alarm setpoint and status
• Low temperature alarm setpoint and status
• Low flow alarm status
• Low coolant level status
• Fault chiller status on/off
